The Atlanta Ballet
 
This professional dance company is the oldest in the whole USA and incorporates a whole range of dance routines, from the classic to the contemporary. Every year The Nutcracker pulls in thousands of adoring fans and is one of the highlights of the Fox Theatre.
The Atlanta History Center
If you want to learn about a large chunk of American history then this 32 acre area – complete with hiking trails, gardens and wildlife – is a great place to visit. Some of the highlights include the 1928 Swan House and the Civil War exhibition at the museum.
Atlanta Preservation Center
Offering guided tours to some of the best historical and eye-catching sites in Atlanta, you will be able to see areas such as Inman Park, Druid Hills and Ansley Park. The tours are not too taxing on your legs and you will be able to see a lot more than from the window of a tour bus.
Chattahoochee River
As part of the Atlanta conservation drive, almost 50 miles of the Chattahoochee River have been set aside. This area includes 16 picnic areas and the opportunity to hire canoes, tubes and kayaks. There are even river cruises in original paddle-wheel boats.
The Georgia Aquarium
The USA is renowned for having the biggest of everything, so you should not miss a visit to the biggest aquarium on the planet. You will be treated to the sight of over 500 species totaling more than 100,000 creatures including whales, sharks and other marine creatures.
Golf Courses
As the host city of some of the world's leading golf tournaments, Atlanta boasts some of the most amazing golf courses. The city has over 100 courses from which to choose, including the world-famous Eagle's Landing Country Club.
Jimmy Carter Museum and Library
This museum will allow you to delve into the mind of one of America's most famous presidents. The exhibit includes a model of the Oval Office, photographs, timelines and highlights of the Carter administration. The museum is also home to the president's Nobel Peace Prize.
Piedmont Park
Located between 10th Street and Piedmont Avenue, this recreational area is made up of 180 acres of fields, picnic sites, trails and the famous Lake Clara Meer. The park is also the venue for events which include the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Screen on the Green, which is a weekly free movie festival in the summer months.
Stone Mountain Park
As the most popular destination in the entire state of Georgia, Stone Mountain Park comprises of over 3,200 acres of untouched wonders. This area is perfect for day trips or camping and is very child-friendly. The latest addition to the park is a massive tubing hill which complements the Skylift to the mountaintop perfectly.
Kangaroo Conservation Center
Holding the largest kangaroo population outside of Australia, this conservation centre offers very rare sites of these fascinating creatures in as close to their natural habitat as possible.
