  Martin Luther King Jnr. Week    Atlanta Boat Show (January 13-17)
This week is crammed with concerts, performances and moving religious gatherings to honor one of the most influential men in America's history.    
All boating enthusiasts are encouraged to attend this festival which takes place at the Georgia World Congress Center. This exhibition has all the latest in boats and boating accessories.  
  Febuary
  Best of Atlanta    Southeastern Flower Show (February 20-23)
This is a culinary treat for those who love food. Sixty of the top restaurants in Atlanta display their best at the Cobb Galleria Centre.    
The Atlanta Hall Exhibition Center is a great place to spend the day with kids during this show. The daily activities and shows include workshops, displays and flow demos.  
  March
  St. Patrick's Day Parade (March 13)    NASCAR Atlanta 500
Although not specifically a Georgian tradition, the sizeable Irish community always makes this day one to remember – complete with Irish food, drink, dance and music.    
This is one of the foremost exciting races on the NASCAR calendar, so if you happen to be in Atlanta you should be in for a treat.

  Atlanta Dogwood Festival (April 17-19)    
Peidmont Park is the venue for this annual event which includes concerts, kids' parades, dog shows and hot air balloon races.    
   
  May (May 23-25)
  Atlanta Jazz Festival    Annual Laser Show
This festival takes place on Memorial Day weekend at Grant Park. It features some of the best local and national jazz artists around.    
This is a festival of lights with a difference with music-accompanied laser shows happening from March to Labor Day onto the face of Stone Mountain.  
  June
  Georgia Shakespeare Festival  
For a dose of culture, Oglethorpe University produces a series of Shakespeare classics from June to October.          
  July
  Independence Day Celebrations    Black Arts Festival (July 29 – August 2nd)
Atlanta is a good a place as any in the USA to get caught up in the festivities. You can choose between Peach Tree Street, Decatur Town Square and Turner Field for a great fireworks display.    
This 10 day event celebrates creativity of African heritage and culture. It is truly one of the most amazing art exhibitions of its kind.  
  August
  Latino Festival (August 23)    Atlanta Underground Film Festival (August 26-30)
This festival celebrates all that is Latino, with dance, concerts, food, stalls and music.    
This week-long event bridges the gap between film and art and is used to promote up-and-coming talent from around the world.  
  September
  Yellow Daisy Festival (September 10-13)  
This is one of the most beautiful art displays around, set amidst a sea of flowers in Stone Mountain Park.          
  October
  Georgia National Fair (October 8-18)  
The Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agricenter is the venue for this 10 day display of food, entertainment and fireworks. This is another family-friendly environment.          
  November
  Lighting of the Tree (Thanksgiving,  Lenox Square)   
Thousands of people gather on Thanksgiving night at Underground Atlanta for carol singing, prayer and festivities as the gigantic tree is finally lit in honor of the holiday spirit.    
   
  December
  Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Concerts ( December 4 – 31, Woodruff
  Arts Centre,
)
   First Night Atlanta (December 31, Midtown)
Woodruff Arts Centre is a great place to go to get into the festive spirit. Concerts take place on most days throughout December.    
This takes place on New Year's Eve in Midtown Atlanta. With music, food and a no-alcohol policy, this is a very safe place to spend the evening with the family.
